Chancel Choir

The Chancel Choir of New Providence Presbyterian Church has a rich tradition of singing quality sacred choral music in worship. The membership of the choir is a warm and welcoming group who share a love of singing and their love of Christ through music.  The choir is made up of all musical abilities and there are no auditions required. The choir sings for weekly services and rehearses for 90 minutes (7:00 - 8:30 p.m.) each Wednesday evening. The repertoire of the choir includes classical sacred music from the Renaissance to contemporary periods.  Emphasis is placed on good vocal production and expressive singing. The Chancel Choir strives to support and enhance the worship experience through offering our gifts of music to the glory of God.

We welcome new members and hope you will consider joining us.  If you have a love for singing, enjoy the fellowship of other musicians and a strong desire to share your gifts there is a place for you in our choir.

For additional information, please contact Rob Britt, Director of Music at rob.britt@blountk12.org or call him at 865-805-5193.

New Providence and Maryville College have shared a rich history and deep connection dating back to the founders of both the church and the college. The MC Choral Scholars program was created to provide Maryville College students a scholarship opportunity to sing with the Chancel Choir. The eight students who are selected annually must be members of Maryville College Choir and must pass a musical audition and interview.  The choral scholars provide musical support throughout the academic year and benefit from the mentoring from our experienced members of the Chancel Choir. Additionally, the choral scholars provide small ensemble music for a variety of worship services throughout the year.
