This is the new RSS feed from New Providence Presbyterian Church. Click on the little orange logo below to download the feed to the reader you use.

For those of you who just turned your head to the side and said, "What's an RSS feed?", read on.

What is RSS?  RSS stands for "Really Simple Syndication" -- it's a format for distributing and gathering content from sources across the Web, including newspapers, magazines, and blogs. Web publishers use RSS to easily create and distribute news feeds that include links, headlines, and summaries.  If you go to Google, Yahoo or one of the many other pages when you first go out to the internet, you can personalize those pages to show news you are interested in.  For example, my personal Google page has the New Providence news feed, the lastest picture from National Geographic, the quote for the day, the weather, and of course my Dilbert cartoon of the day.

To do that, I clicked on the little orange icon and it took me to another page that had two columns of information.  One side is "Step 1: Get a reader" and the other is "Step 2: Subscribe."  I chose the Google reader and followed the directions.  Then I subscribed by clicking the Google icon on the right hand side of the page.  You'll want to do the same with whatever reader and subscriptions you choose.  If you have any questions, click here to e-mail me and I'll try to help.

The Chancel Choir invites you to join us as we begin regular weekly rehearsals on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The choir welcomes new members and is in need of all voice parts.  We sing a variety of anthems and service music throughout the year.  If you need additional information, contact Rob Britt, Director of Music (brittr@blountk12.org).

Vision & Ministry Forums

Where is God calling us next? As we continue to seek God’s will for this congregation, the session invites you to attend a series of ministry and vision conversations over the next months. Each conversation will be centered around a particular area of ministry (mission and outreach, congregational life, discipleship and education, administration, and worship) and will be led by elders and deacons on those respective ministry teams.

At each of these conversations, members of the Budget & Finance Committee will be available to provide financial information and discuss needs and financial implications for those ministries.

There will be two opportunities to participate in each forum, one during the Sunday school hour (10 a.m.), and another following the 11:05 a.m. traditional service. These meetings will last approximately 1 hour, and both will be held in the new Westminster Hall.

The timetable for the sessions is:
  • June 6 - Congregational Life
  • August 8 - Discipleship & Education
  • September 12 - Administration
  • October 17 - Worship
