Equip
The Equip Ministry Team handles all the functions required to keep New Providence, its programs and ministries running smoothly.
Those groups include:
- The Facilities committee oversees the care and maintenance of our building to keep all of its systems up-to-date and functioning well.
- The Personnel committee invests its time in supporting and encouraging staff leaders whose work enables volunteers to carry on the work of New Providence.
- The Policy committee works to make sure that our policies reflect the ministry we are doing and the commitments we hold.
- The Finance & Stewardship committee is responsible for presenting the annual budget, and then keeping track of our progress through the year, including updates to support continued giving to the operating budget.
- The Generosity Team works year-round to encourage financial giving to the church, by highlighting the work of each of our ministry teams, and expressing gratitude for gifts of time and resources.
- The Memorials committee oversees memorial gifts given to the church in memory of those who have died. While memorials do not support ongoing operations, they can be used to provide resources for other needs.
- The New Providence Foundation is the endowment wing of our congregation, and holds, invests and distributes income from gifts given to the church for our long-term financial stability.

Serve
Groups that get together to serve the church, community and world.
Worship
Worship opportunities abound at New Providence. Each Sunday morning we offer two distinctly different worship opportunities:
- “The Circle” at 9am is an informal service with acoustic, often bluegrass music, and a more relaxed atmosphere. Prayers are offered up by the congregation, and on the last Sunday of (most) months, we serve communion.
- Our Traditional service at 11:05am includes our Chancel Choir and Casavant organ, installed in 1954, shortly after the sanctuary was built.
Both services hold opportunities for participation:
- The Chancel Choir invites singers with any level of expertise to join and sing, even if it is simply “making a joyful noise!” Maryville College choir scholars and graduate section leaders assist dedicated volunteers.
- The Westminster Bells provide handbell music four times a year and rehearse on Sunday mornings from September – May.
- Volunteers are always needed to assist with setting up and cleaning up on communion Sundays. If you’re a baker or a detail person, there’s a place for you!
- Ushers greet worshipers at the door and guide newcomers in order to make them comfortable.
- Our sound system, while not complicated, needs reliable volunteers who are willing to be trained and serve on a rotating schedule. That service is invaluable for us to provide a live-streamed worship experience for those who cannot attend worship in person.
