What To Expect

You Are Welcome Here

Visiting a new church can be intimidating. Below you will find information about what to expect when you first arrive.
What are services like?

Services are on Sunday at 9:00 am and 11:05 am and typically last 60 minutes.

  • The 9:00 am service is called “The Circle.” It is a casual interactive service with acoustic music.
  • The traditional worship service at 11:05 am has music led by the Chancel Choir and organ.
What should I wear?

Wear what you feel comfortable in! Some tend to dress up in their “Sunday Best” while others are more casual. You are welcome however you arrive.

Where is New Providence Presbyterian, and how do I get to the sanctuary?
703 W Broadway Ave,
Maryville, TN 37801

The sanctuary faces W. Broadway Ave. and the doors in front or on the near side provide easiest access. A handicap accessible ramp and door are located across from the handicapped parking spaces.

What about kids?

Children are welcome at every worship service. There are art binders at the entrance to the sanctuary and childcare is available for children 5 and under. During both services, children of all ages are invited forward to participate in “Children’s Time” for a short message tailored to them. Then children 5 and under are invited to continue learning through play with our childcare staff and volunteers.

What if children are restless during the service?
“Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.”

Children learn through play, movement, and exploration. This type of learning can feel loud to adult ears, yet it is important! Children are welcome in worship at NPPC, even when they are loud or restless. If you wish, you are also welcome to take them out of the sanctuary at any time. The atrium of the church can be a good place to take a break. There are comfortable chairs, a water fountain, and restrooms. To get to the atrium, exit through the doors to the front right of the sanctuary.

The Circle worship service is designed to be especially family friendly. You will see several young people moving about and helping to lead worship.

If you have any questions, please feel free to talk to our ushers or contact us!

Accessibility & Inclusion
We are a welcoming congregation, a place of unity, diversity and inclusion. There is no place in the church for discrimination against any person, and our doors are open to all.

Handicapped parking is available in the upper parking lot, near the sanctuary. The side door to the sanctuary is easily accessible to those in a wheelchair or using walking assistance devices. Restrooms off of the atrium are handicap accessible. Ushers are happy to help you find the most accessible spaces and routes to navigate the building.

There are hearing assistance devices for individuals as well as notes that follow along with the sermon. Ushers can help you find these resources.

Worship with a Friend

Visiting a new community is always more fun when you have a friend to introduce you. Contact us to connect with one of our Deacons. They will answer any questions you have before you come to church, meet you in the parking lot, and sit with you during worship.
